- j.pete622 mars 2026Weird, funny, full of social commentary and a wild ride all around. Classic Gilliam.
- Ray Hopkin13 octobre 2024This is such filmmaking perfection, I've seen this so many times (the first time in 1990 through the BBC Moviedrome series), and each time I find something new that I didn't see before. This is both Gilliam's and Pryces' pinnacles of their careers. The sets, costumes, music, story, cinematography, everything is so utterly brilliant. I also love how it's both funny and frightening... Oh, and what a cast!
- Ella Jameson6 septembre 2025What if David Lynch wrote 1984 as a screenplay and produced the film in 1985? That's Brazil. Brazenly Kafkaesque, darkly hilarious, and chaotically off-kilter in all the right ways. Genuinely a masterpiece, and a seriously fun watch to boot. You can watch this film a dozen times and still spot clever things you've missed before. An instant classic for me.
- basedbidoof28 février 2026Amazing practical effects, beautiful story telling
- Plexxor the Pretty Good12 février 2026It's like looking in a mirror!!
- tuffpet22 juillet 2025Keeps your attention with it's off kilter storyline, and you can see the influence it has had on later films, tv and books. The plotting could benefit from a little more clarity, but there's still a lot here to admire. Strong committed performances allow the absurdity of the story to be sold to the viewer. Edit, spelling.
- Mroczko17 décembre 2025I have no idea what I just watched, but I enjoyed it.
- DonkeyFlix23 janvier 2026This movie made me self conscious about my old, unsightly ducts. I need to replace them with newer, more fashionable unsightly ducts.
- DrFeelGoodMD19 octobre 2025The most Kafkaesque movie I've ever seen.
- Baloo Uriza13 janvier 2026Great movie but a little on the nose if you have the misfortune of living in the US under Trump.
- naren shenoy10 décembre 2025I don’t want to give this movie a star rating, because I am not entirely sure what to make of it. I watched it because it is a movie so often referenced and many other movies have clearly copied. Science fiction, dystopian future, fever dreams, anti-corporate propaganda… These are all right up my alley. Unfortunately, because I have watched it in 2025 for the first time in my mid 40s, it may not strike as hard as if I had my first viewing 20-30 years ago. I’ve seen this type of movie a hundred times, I wish this movie had been the first one that I had seen of this genre. Sci-fi and movie buffs alike should watch it, if for nothing else, a frame of reference.
- slagp16 novembre 2025I watch this film at least twice a year, it's just perfect!
- Cubane19 octobre 2025I think I dremt this entire movie during a nyquil-fueled bout of flu a while back. Seeing this movie was an unpleasant and mildly upsetting experience that will live rent-free in my head for the rest of my days. I could have rubbed those brain cells together for something, anything, more useful. But no. That space will be forever occupied by the endless series of tubes and Robert De Niro turning into paper.
- Sixpax26 juillet 2025Well... what did I just watch? Seriously, I feel like I need a flowchart, a therapist, and maybe a mild hallucinogen just to process whatever that was. Terry Gilliam’s Brazil is like Orwell’s 1984 if it got lost in a fever dream and never made it back. Bureaucracy meets insanity, wrapped in dystopian absurdity with a side of ductwork. There were moments where I think I was supposed to be impressed... or confused... or both. Mission accomplished, I guess. As for rewatching it? Not unless I’m locked in a room with nothing but a VHS player, this movie, and a bottle of absinthe. Even then, I’d think twice. So yeah, Brazil. It happened. I was there. Let’s never speak of it again.
