Baddies galore, Max Schreck, a delicious Michelle Pfieffer as Selina Kyle/Catwoman and who can forget Danny DeVito as the creepy Penguin. All out action and funny one-liners make this a stunning sequal... Just a pity about the others that followed...

Tim Burton continues to use his fun and dark style throughout this movie and having it set in the winter just adds to the weirdness of Gotham. Michelle Pfeiffer and Danny DeVito give unforgettable performances as Catwoman and The Penguin that do actually, in my opinion, hold up really well. Keaton is also amazing as Batman and the ending was perfect in my opinion. If you liked Burton’s first Batman film, you’ll probably like this too. I highly recommend it

- Zokkiie16 mars 2026It’s kind of a strange movie, but in a way that makes it pretty entertaining. The visuals are great and the whole thing has a very distinct style that you don’t really see in a lot of superhero movies. The villains easily end up being the most interesting part, and the actors lean into the weirdness in a fun way. At the same time, it can feel a little uneven. Some parts work really well, others just sort of happen and move on. It’s not the most polished movie out there, but it has enough personality and memorable moments to make it worth watching.

- 17 septembre 2026Batman Returns is easily one of the darkest and easily the most gothic looking "Batman" film out of all of them. Which brings me to the whole controversy issue surrounding this film: 👇 When "Warner Bros" marketed "Batman Returns" very heavily to a broad merchandise driven audience. There were more than I believe 120 licensed products. Meanwhile McDonald's turned about 9,000 U.S. and Canadian restaurants into Batman Returns-themed locations 🤦 which proved to be its undoing. The whole controversy was centered around the kid friendly merchandising campaign. Which was a dark PG-13 film that imo, was a lot more violent, disturbing, had a lot of sexual tones to it surrounding the Penguin/Oswald Cobblepot. All of that content, that I've just briefly touched on, with it then all colliding with its child focused campaign, was very very strange, bad & downright bizarre. Seriously what were they thinking here? The whole marketing campaign to this film, to put it very mildly, was an absolute mess & disaster. And "Batman Returns" is just a much much darker film as a whole, than "Batman 89" ever was. It should never have been marketed this way. They should have just marketed it and advertised it towards adults only. That was totally stupid & unacceptable, them marketing this towards children. It's a shame, because the film in of itself, is a damn good "Batman" movie. Now here's what I genuinely believe, had they advertised and marketed this not towards children and just adults only; then this film would have even better again at the Box Office and would have been received a hell of a lot more positively than it was, when and after it was released into cinemas. They would still have found and had there audience anyway; because this "IP" is very popular and beloved by adults as well. For me, it would have still been a hit. And had they gone this route and it would have been a major success critically from both fans & critics, then we would never have gotten the "Joel Schumacher" films and "Michael Keaton" would have definitely reprised his role, as the caped crusader in at least for one more more movie after this. Or even multiple films who knows. Here's my actual review and overall thoughts of Batman Returns 👇 First of all, I absolutely love the look of this "Gotham City" in fact it's my 2nd favourite looking "Gotham" setting in the entire Batman franchise. I only like the look of Batman 2022's Gotham slightly more than this one. And the fact that this takes place during the holidays, makes it even more unforgettable & unique. Michael Keaton just slots straight back into the role as Batman & Bruce Wayne. You would think this was shot back to back, with Batman 89 regarding his both outings as the titular character. Michelle Pfeiffer will forever always will be, the best ever "Catwoman & Selena Kyle" she was phenomenal as both and she remains to this day to be the most memorable & iconic to ever play that part. She was unreal. And when you watch all of the behind the scenes stuff to this film, the amount of time & effort that she put into this performance was truly unbelievable. Danny Devito's penguin 🐧 is very dark, eerie and creepy. His performance as penguin, can feel a bit over the top at times. However at the same time that's part of what makes it work and very memorable. "Christopher Walken's Max Shreck" though was very overshadowed by Catwoman/Selina Kyle & Penguin/Oswald Cobblepot respectively. He's still very watchable, but can't get out of both the other villains shadows. And Ultimately & Overall Batman Returns 🦇 may have caused a headache for "Warner Bros" with its whole marketing campaign. But when you view & perceive this movie on it's own merits without all of that attached to it; then it remains to this day, one of the strongest and most visually distinctive Batman films ever made. Michael Keaton, Michelle Pfeiffer & Danny Devito all bring and offer something very memorable to the table, while "Tim Burton" creates a "Gotham" that feels like it exists somewhere between a comic book, a nightmare and a Christmas story, which is what I absolutely love about it. I have so much nostalgia and a massive soft spot for "Batman Returns" I grew up watching and loving this movie. And I still have it on VHS 📼 to this very day as well also. Love Batman Returns 🦇❤️ My Personal Ratings/Scores for "Batman Returns" is ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ & a 10/10 a 💯
