⭐⭐½ – Almost Adults — Relatable, Then It Coasts Almost Adults isn’t a life-altering movie — and it never pretends to be. What it does offer is something smaller and more familiar: a snapshot of that messy in-between stage where friendships shift, ambitions stall, and nobody really knows what they’re doing yet. In that sense, it’s quietly relatable and easy to settle into. The film clearly feels like a labour of love. There are moments that genuinely land, including a few laugh-out-loud beats that feel earned rather than forced. Early on, it captures the rhythms of close friendship well — the shorthand, the frustrations, the affection that survives even when people start pulling in different directions. Unfortunately, the momentum fades in the second half. What starts out sharp and engaging begins to drift, and the story never quite regains the emotional energy it opens with. The ideas are still there, but they’re explored a little too gently to leave a lasting impression. Overall, it’s an enjoyable enough watch — warm, modest, and sincere — just not one that sticks with you for very long. Worth seeing once, especially if the premise resonates, but unlikely to demand a revisit. ☕ Pairing: A slightly over-milked coffee — comforting and pleasant, but a bit weaker than you expected by the end.
