Le mariage de deux jeunes gens réunissant une cinquantaine d'invités est le prétexte à une instigation en profondeur de la société américaine, familiale et sociale. Un tableau plutôt sombre et sans concession.
Réalisé par Robert Altman

One of Altman's most underrated and purely funny films. It has the multi-character setup of Nashville but doesn't aim for that film's large-scale profundity, settling instead for a nicely claustrophobic day and night spent with two bickering upper middle class American families brought together by a wedding party that seems as if it will last longer than the marriage. Carol Burnett gets the closest thing to a lead role and proves that her brand of comic acting can translate to the big screen in a winning way. The rest of the cast is a rich mix of Altman regulars and partial unknowns who all get their chance to shine ... except Desi Arnaz Jr. Safe to say he did not inherit his father's talent.
