Coming into this final Episode 9 of "TADC" as great and as consistently good the show has been through its previous 8 Episodes; I was quite cautious going into the finale whether they were going to be able to provide the answers that would ultimately stick the landing.
Ep 7 for me raised more questions than it did answers, while we did find more out about the circus in Ep 8 we had that bombshell ending. So off the back of Ep 7 & 8 for two very different reasons, I was wondering in the space of 1 Episode, could they bring it altogether with the amount of work that they had on there hands here in order to do so?
And my answer is they did extremely well with providing answers regarding the meaning of it all. There's satisfying payoffs both with the lore and the characters especially on an emotional level. There's a revelation revealed in here, that I don't want to give away that's very powerful and fascinating. It changes how we see their existence and raises some very unsettling questions in the process. For me, this has given the series central mystery as a whole package very heavy emotional weight.
There's also a great emotional payoff between Pomni & Jax and for better or worse either way "Jax" does have a complete character arc. I thought what happened there, made both their journeys all the more compelling & powerful for two different reasons for the two of them, in terms of their developments, they both felt like complete characters which is awesome!!!
All of the supporting characters also contribute to the emotional impact, about everything the group has faced, during their time trapped in the Digital Circus.
Whether you like or dislike "Caine" he has now recognised the sheer consequences that his actions have brung to the group. Even though he can't undo what he's done, that has now added another interesting dimension to the character I think. He seems now to be acknowledging his mistakes and taking responsibility for his actions now. Which in effect makes his whole character development feel completed & satisfying tbh.
Visually also, Ep 9 makes excellent use of its contrast between the Circus's familiar cartoon aesthetic and darker undertones 👌👌👌
This show once again continues to to combine eccentric humour, psychological horror and great emotional storytelling excellently, which to be fair it has done in those aspects all the way through.
If there is a slight weakness in this final Episode, which is the amount of information and all of character developments as good as they are, make it all feel a bit rushed. It just all feels a bit stuffed, and that there's no room to breathe and to air it all out. I'm nitpicking, I know!! 😅 I'm not going to let it affect my rating of this final Episode, because this is too good of an Episode.
Overall, what we have here is a very satisfying conclusion, that has done extremely well to bring everything altogether both with the main plot and all of the character developments. There's also very good payoffs here as well. Again for better or worse when it comes down to the fate of all the characters, there is that sense of closure about it as well. Which was tbh, one of the most important things for me coming into this final Ep 👍👍 And yeah, this Episode had it all to do, and it totally succeeds at doing what it set out to do. And therefore really elevates this entire season into a ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ show. Would I ever watch this again, damn right I would, especially now with how great this last episode turned out to be.
My Personal Ratings/Scores for "TADC" Episode/Chapter 9 is 💯 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ & a 10/10
