But after the work was completed in 2016, residents of about 400 homes around the canal suddenly suffered damage. The residents were sure: this had to be due to the work. Yet to this day, the province denies guilt in many cases. After years of wrangling with the government, Overijssel seems to be coming up with solutions. Recently, tailor-made solutions have been sought. That sounds good, of course, but isn't that way too late? The residents are completely exhausted by the battle.
