This story should have been a 40 minute Twilight Zone episode.....which I would stop watching after 10 minutes.

Only complaint was that it was before its time - but thats hardly a complaint

How did Kyoko go from being sexy, sultry, and insatiable, to utterly insufferable? That can't be. This has to be the matrix... Don't wartch Ex-MackEena first. This teller vision show will be IMPOSSIBLE to get through otherwise.

Pretty trippy show. Super moody, slow, and kinda hypnotic. It’s definitely one of those “big ideas” sci-fi series that wants you to sit there and think about life, free will, the universe, all that. Looks amazing, sounds cool, but yeah — it drags a bit and can feel a little too serious for its own good. Still, if you're into deep, weird tech-y stuff, it’s a solid watch.

Devs is a case study in bad writing and direction hidden behind extreme self-seriousness and stylised presentation. Almost, but not quite, worth watching cautionarily. Horrible, but not amusingly. The series repeatedly asserts intelligence through jargon, credentialising scenes, and visual affect, but fails to demonstrate it through character behaviour, plot discipline, or causality. Exposition is heavy and often unnecessary, tension is signposted then instantly deflated, and implausible character and espionage logic undermine credibility rather than building stakes. For a detailed and entertaining teardown of these recurring failures, the Capital-O Opinions YouTube series documents the patterns clearly; once seen, they are hard to unsee.

Devs, in my opinion, is full of good ideas, but has such poor execution that it suffers from not being able to realise them. Sonoya Mizono is completely unconvincing, and with her in the driver's seat, Nick Offerman and Allison Pill's forces are severely muted. But what let me down ultimately was the climax - or rather, the lack thereof. Devs has structure, form and foundation, but ends up relying on poor acting and cliched tropes that underwhelm the entire series. If I were to believe in the many-world interpretation, there may be a world where this series lived up to its expectations.
