My quick rating - 4.5/10. To sell a movie such as this, you really have to not hire an actress to be the focal point of your worry about their safety and pick such an annoying brat (Natalie Sharp). So immediately, when our novelist father has his home invaded while he has his mouth wired shut after dental surgery, I was hoping they would kill her right off the bat. Now let me digress. The invasion is a big stretch since the majority of the movie is long, drawn-out scenes between the father and daughter, and is merely the boyfriend showing up. During this time, we are supposed to be wondering if she showed up with any ulterior motives, or just to visit with daddy. I think the vast majority of the audience knows by this point which it is. The movie itself is extremely well-made in all technical aspects. Great camera work and use of lighting really help the atmosphere of the emotional struggle these actors don't do the best job of selling. This flick would've fallen apart had these parts not been done so well. I will have to say, without giving the ending away, that it does end in one of the most irritating 3 minutes I have ever seen. I won't ruin it, but it is like the "do you want to hear the most annoying sound in the world" scene from Dumb and Dumber (great movie, btw), but incorporating something that unlikeable into a serious scene of tension was just so wrong on so many levels. So when it is so slow-moving in pace and ends in such a massive headache, all the good merits of the rest of the flick are well overshadowed. I will say that Alexander Sharp is a director to keep an eye on since he definitely shows promise here behind the lens. Down the road, I would like to see what he does with a better script.
