The films he's in are such cheap productions, like this one, for example. They made a ridiculous film. I wouldn't normally watch such productions, but I watched it just for him, but I won't watch any more. I won't watch any more films with him in them. I gave it a 2 out of 10.

Like Captain Miller aboard the Event Horizon, he’s not just challenged — he’s dismantled. The beach is a mirror just as the ship was: reflecting back guilt, shame, and the failure to protect. Where Event Horizon weaponizes memory into madness, The Surfer uses heat, isolation, and local cruelty to boil its protagonist down to raw instinct. Both men face a reckoning not with an enemy, but with themselves — surrounded by people who either won’t help or can’t. One ends with fire, the other with water. But in both, peace is earned only after the soul has been scorched clean.

The Surfer might not hit every mark technically or narratively, but it’s beautifully done and resonates on a deeper, more personal level. Its atmosphere, tone, and emotion carry it beyond its imperfections. Not perfect, but perfectly impactful.

I like Nick Cage. This is a fantastic performance and it is a ride. Maybe don't watch it while you're sweeping the floor. Maybe then you'll pick up on the nuances that I've missed
