After many years spent abroad, John Nelson returns to his native city and seeks his former classmate, the rector. They speak of college days and Nelson asks of the other chum, Rex Legrange. Then the rector tells his story: how he went home with Rex to spend his vacation; how he met the Carewe twins: Adele with a beautiful face and fickle nature, and Angela with a plain little face but beautiful disposition. Allan falls in love with the plainer girl, Angela, and learns that although Rex is in love with Adele, both the girls have given their hearts to him. After Rex and Adele announce their engagement. Allan goes back to his study to be ordained, so that he can perform the ceremony. Rex is injured in an explosion, and Adele proves faithless to him. The rector returns to his study, but some time later he is very much surprised to learn that Adele has consented to marry Rex. He arrives at the blind man's home to perform the marriage ceremony, but discovers the bride is none other than Angela, who has pretended to he her faithless sister to bring happiness to the man she adores. After the wedding the minister leaves the couple, but months later receives news of his friend's death. At this juncture a lady enters the room and the rector, with a note of pride in his voice, introduces "my wife, Angela."
