The Occupant Ratings & Reviews
- shaun231214 de agosto de 2025The first 5 minutes was fast tracking story lines, after 20 I fast tracked to stop button.
- brian658321 de febrero de 2026Not really one thing or the other. Is it an end-of-life story... is it a survival movie... is it a weird alien rock monster sci-fi thing...who knows? And by the end, the only question you'll have is 'Is that the house from Father Ted?' Decent performances, though.
- Joe M1 de febrero de 2026A good movie if you're in the snow! Exist forever in your mind or accept reality and truly live for a short while. Themes too deep for many.
- elcaptainhook12 de agosto de 2025So bad it's not worth a coment
- MaximusDoom11 de diciembre de 2025Just boring!
- gas_monkey28 de agosto de 2025Slow and boring
- V13 de agosto de 2025Cool idea but I couldn’t get into it, no immersion.
- Ema Y Dani8 de diciembre de 2025The film doesn't quite come together, but I was very impressed by Balinska.
- marshalsea20 de noviembre de 2025Acting, direction, sets, locations are all excellent. Just let down by the story, and it's not an offensive let down on the story like so many these days, but a simple - doesn't quite have the pay off - hasn't quite yanked on the heartstrings as it really needed to do with a story of anticipatory grief that only those that have gone through witnessing a loved one dying in front of them knows. The cosmic edge doesn't quite land either - they could have leant into that aspect a bit more. EIther way, great deliveries from all involved and will be checking out the next film the director does.
- Monkey See! Monkey Review!!6 de septiembre de 2025Let’s be honest—The Occupant is a slow burn that never quite catches fire. TLDR -> Felt like watching ice melt!! PASS!! Do not waste your time!! After nearly an hour of watching the protagonist wander through a bleak wilderness, clutching a mysterious black rock and speaking to a cryptic voice over a radio, I found myself skipping ahead to the final 15 minutes. And even then? No answers. No payoff. Just more ambiguity wrapped in somber music and icy landscapes. The film leans heavily into atmosphere, but it does so at the expense of clarity and engagement. It’s beautifully shot, sure, and Ella Balinska gives a committed performance—but the story never delivers on its intriguing setup. The black rock, the voice on the walkie-talkie, the endless wandering… none of it adds up to anything meaningful. It’s the kind of movie you could put on to fall asleep to—and I don’t mean that as a compliment. If you’re hoping for a satisfying sci-fi mystery or a gripping survival tale, this isn’t it. My advice? Don’t be swayed by glowing reviews. Skip this one and find something that actually rewards your time. Unless, of course, you’re in the market for a cinematic lullaby—then The Occupant might be just right.
