Spectacular, cheesy and empty. For this the third and (at the time) final Matrix film, I was expecting more of the second film. It was clear that the direction of the series had shifted more towards style than substance and, basically, anything like the first film was too much to ask. Despite these lowish expectations I was still disappointed. The graphics, action and general style-over-substance of Reloaded are still there, in fact they’re dialled-up even more. The battle in the middle of this film is quite spectacular in its scale, detail and relentless eye candy. However, it’s all quite predictable, tedious and pointless. At least Reloaded had some semblance of a plot and didn’t overplay its hand in that regard – the plot was basic but reasonably coherent without trying to be too serious. Here the plot barely exists – things just happen either for no reason or based on very lame premises. There’s cheesy, trite sub-plots and scenes that are quite laughable at times. Even worse, there’s efforts to make it into something deeper than merely an action movie. It’s all quite the random, convoluted, pretentious mess. Considering how brilliant the first film was it’s hard to imagine that the same people are responsible for writing and directing this. I guess the Wachowskis only really had enough original content for one film but somehow managed to make three (well, four) films out of the concept.

Not quite as marvellous as the original, but still rounded off the series fantastically....

An excellent ending, or what would appear to be an ending, with characters that, throughout the series, are so well fleshed out that they feel more like old friends than characters. The scenescapes are beautiful, with the dystopian real world and contemporary virtual world being rendered in stunning HD quality. Packed with action and a very religious vibe, it is a great experience.

A very similar movie to the one that came before it, with all the same shortcomings. This is basically part 2 of the second film. The only great things here are the philosophical stuff. The ending is also not the best in my opinion.

Beyond seeing Monica Bellucci in stunning form, there is no reason this movie should exist. Not as awful as the 2nd but they disrespected the original masterpiece by trying to franchise it & it failed miserably. I consider the Matrix a 1 & done film.

A solid, though messy, conclusion to an iconic saga.

I found this better than the second Matrix film ("Reloaded") but not anywhere as intriguing as the first film.

I barely remember this one, it's a pale imitation of the original and a similar drop in quality again from the second. Bruce Spence was pretty good as the Trainman though.

    I don't understand

More great action sequences. I enjoyed the battle outside of the matrix, as well. Ending lacks a little satisfaction.

    Perfect movie!

Tedious and boring, i thought it might improve over time, like the second one, but it doesnt. Hardly any time spent in the matrix and the end battle is anti-climatic.
