It's a fair telling of the fascinating history, sporting a truly epic cast. The haunting Vangelis score is a nice treat. Many details of the real story are simplified to make sense to people who are not British naval historians, but sadly many of the pivotal details of the plot are also subtle enough to be totally missed by those who are not British naval historians. It gains much more respect from an audience that has done their homework. However to anyone else, it'll seem like a confusing, meandering, vaguely sickening boat ride. That may be how the crew felt!

This movie has a lot going for it including a stellar cast with an incredible performance by Sir Anthony Hopkins. Why he didn't get nominated for an Academy Award or Golden Globe is beyond me. Then there is the spectacular cinematography and the haunting musical score by Vangelis. Make no mistake, this is a good movie, but it had greatness in it's grasp, and like a lead race horse fading down the stretch, it hit the ticket, but merely showed. It sticks to the facts and portrays the events more accurately than ever before and I applaud the filmmakers for that. The problem is it leaves the audience with mixed feelings. Who is the protagonist and who is the antagonist? Both men in the conflict (Bligh and Christian) are shown in good light and bad light. Each are likeable and unlikable, commendable and condemnable. Watching a man-versus-man story without a clearcut hero is like watching a horse race without knowing which one to root for down the stretch. Entertaining yes, but a little less exciting.

I do love this movie and it’s murderers-row cast with each one better than the next. Also Mr. Christian is just a whiny fool which honestly is entertaining. I just wish it was more epic and larger in scale like the previous movies. Damn your eyes!

A fabulous film with a haunting, mesmeric musical score by Vangelis. The characters are portrayed both sympathetically and with great understanding by the superb cast. Well worth watching.
