cultural level, especially as a former sprinter myself. I could relate to a lot of what the main character went through — the sacrifices his parents made to give their child a better education and future. It was an all-around good movie for me. The only thing that threw me off was the American actors playing Jamaican roles. The forced accents made some scenes feel awkward and took away from the authenticity. Aside from that, the story and performances from the Jamaican cast were strong. The father and brother did well, and Karen Hall, the female sprinter, really stood out — she was fantastic. Precious also delivered a solid performance. However, some of the other cast members, especially the American actors, just didn’t quite hit home for me. The mother did okay — definitely the most convincing of that group. Overall, Sprinter was a powerful and relatable film that beautifully captured the struggles, hopes, and cultural pride that come with chasing your dream
