This movie can be summed up as: Random guy is stalked and murdered for.....reasons.
This script desperately needed a punch up. The first hour and ten minutes are a massive slog. Our main protagonist, Jake, is being stalked, phone hacked, and tormented. Jake’s “friends” attribute his strange behavior to his mental state which seems to be prone to anxiety/depression. Repeat for an hour and ten minutes.
When the killers finally makes their move on Jake, it actually delivers a pretty wild and brutal final 20 minutes and salvage at least a ⭐⭐. Outside of the final 20 though, (and the animal sacrifice opening, again for reasons?) there’s really no slasher action. Could use more Crispin Glover weirdness, too.

My quick rating - 3.8/10. A really slow movie is the first thought that comes to mind. Half the movie was done before anything really happened, and even after that, it slows back down to a snail's pace. The point is about college kids being found dead on the beach and a smiley face painted at the scene. But they try to explain it away in an urban legend fashion. Just not something cool like standing in front of a mirror and saying Candyman. Naw, this is random people, or in this movie's case, a person, chosen to be sacrificed by some cult, or something like that. Not much development at all into the why, and the antagonists have zero depth at all. The victims in this are all oblivious to everything happening around them, so they end up dead. Then the movie ends with a setup for the next "chosen" one, or sequel, most likely. I cannot see why one would want to watch another one of these since this one was unfulfilling, but I suppose you never know.
