- Tanalien9 de enero de 2025It was this film, Saving Private Ryan, that led me to realize the core tenet of Steven Spielberg’s movies: they are all courageous stories of ordinary people doing extraordinary things. This theme began in fictitious waters: an archaeologist, a boy and an alien, and a paleontologist. Those were powerful tales, but by delving into the stories of America, Spielberg has tapped into something more. Still, the men we follow in the film’s Second Ranger Battalion may be fictitious, but the Second Ranger Battalion itself was a very real part of D-Day. Spielberg is building many of his narratives around American heroes and documenting our history in ways that can’t be gleaned from a textbook.
- Survivor Always2 de septiembre de 2026Saving Private Ryan may be one of the greatest films of all time. I saw it for the first time at the movie theater on opening weekend. It was a STUNNING experience. Up until this movie, I had not seen a film that through camera work, sound and other things created such an immersive experience, that it made you feel like you were actually there and part of that group storming the beach. WOW! The casting (the entire cast) was some of the best casting in a film that I have ever seen. The directing was masterful and not shocking because it IS Stephen Spielberg! The costumes, sound, cinematography and score along with all the rest mentioned, work together to create a film that I still feel is the best war film I have ever seen, even almost 30 years later. I cry everytime I see it. The only reason Saving Private didn’t win best picture that year is because Harvey Weinstein employed extraordinary pressure and money to push Shakespeare in Love to the voters.

- Michael Gee7 de junio de 2026I'm brutal. Look at the D-Day invasion. A hard movie to watch but an excellent movie nonetheless. The acting is stellar, the opening battle scenes are extremely brutal. A must-see movie, highly recommended for anyone who hasn't seen it.
