Came back to this after years and realized I remembered almost nothing about it. Kind of surprising, because it’s actually a pretty strong remake. It goes all-in on the action and does it well, even if it skips out on the biting satire that gave the original its personality—that’s probably what keeps it from being great. The look of it still works, the suit is clean, and there’s just enough emotion to keep it from feeling empty. Some side characters don’t get much to do and it plays things a bit safe at times, but it’s never dull. Not amazing, but definitely worth a watch.

Streamed this one, and… yeah, it really reminds you how untouchable the original is. All the sleek black armor and corporate gloss in the world can’t hide the fact that this reboot has the emotional depth of a bad firmware update. It tries to be edgy, tries to be meaningful, tries to be something, but mostly ends up feeling like a committee approved imitation of a movie that actually had bite. It’s watchable in that “sure, it’s on” kind of way, but it never comes close to the grit, satire, or sheer personality of the 1987 version. Fine for background noise, but it won’t make you forget the real RoboCop.

The RoboCop reboot was highly underrated. It was not a direct reboot with the old movie but I would have loved a sequel.

As a standalone film, it's OK... But as a reboot to the original, it is dire... The original told a story of despair, without saying it... This reboot didn't show that despair...

Nothing can beat the true grit and horror of the original RoboCop, but this new adaptation really does try to aim for the headshot. The acting was great, plot made sense and the new look/feel of RoboCop was fantastic. I just wish it didn't focus so hard on Murphy's revenge. They definitely could have stretched this out to another movie, focusing more on his struggle adapting to life as a cyborg and coming to terms with his new family dynamics. But for what it is, it was a great way to get the new generation into the boots of Alex Murphy.

How bad could it really be? Baaaaaaad. I loved the cast, and was hoping this was a hidden cult flick that was hated on by superfans, but no, this is truly terrible. It's all been said before, but here it is again: They stripped out all the grit and violence, and made it a ham-fisted PG-13 Marvel-grade action turd. You can catch the references to the good Robocop, but they can't compensate for the rest of the drivel. The action scenes are sloppy CG, and it's just hard to care about any of it. I mean, even the lighting is bland and washed out. Someone heard the first one was too dark, and they took it literally.

When making a remake, it's impossible not to make comparisons... and, in that regard, this movie doesn't come up looking good. I don't think it's a BAD movie, it's just that it doesn't live up to expectations... I probably would like it better if I never watched the original RoboCop movie... I like the story, the effects, the new suit design and the casting, especially (as usual) Gary Oldman's interpretation... it just falls short regarding its predecessor...

Not bad. I would have watched RoboCop 2 if they had made it.

    A Reboot actually worth watching.

Better than I remember. I had forgotten that Jackie Earle Haley, Micaheal Keaton, Sam L. Jackson and Gary Oldman round out the cast, which was suprising and pleasant, and probably saved the movie. Good modern telling re-telling, but the PG-13 bloodless action doesn't quite hit the mark.

Not as good as the original but a good film in its own right. Joel Kinnaman shows his quality as the leading man and givesthis film some much needed credence. A good, solid entertaining film.

An enjoyable - if generic - action movie, if you don't think of it as a true entry in the RoboCop franchise.
