Un grupo de personajes elegidos al azar reciben una moneda de oro que les permite participar en la carrera. - Jordan Joneshace 6 dWhen I was Growing up I used to watch Rat Race on repeat; I'm surprised that the VHS 📼 hadn't worn out with the amount of times I used to watch this. Admittedly I haven't watched this in quite a few years now, and it was so nice going back to revisit it; as I was watching it really brought nice memories just great times. And I also felt very nostalgic while watching too.

It has a fun storyline, stays funny the whole way through, and each character adds something different. The only parts that don’t work for me are the cow and hot air balloon scenes, which feel a bit too over-the-top. Still, it’s a hilarious and entertaining movie overall.

It serves as a spiritual successor to classic screwball comedies like It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World, bringing together an ensemble of eccentric characters who are all completely committed to the absurdity. From Rowan Atkinson’s narcoleptic Italian to the infamous squirrel lady, the cast brings a manic energy that keeps the momentum going. This is a movie best enjoyed when you check your brain at the door; it isn't meant to be taken seriously, and that is its greatest strength. It is an easy, breezy watch designed purely for entertainment, delivering laugh-out-loud moments and a plot that serves as nothing more than a vehicle for gags. If you need something lighthearted and unpretentious, this race is well worth running.
