- Patrick D.15 de agosto de 2026This could've used more Himesh Patel saying "We're the Scots. From Scotland" to Robert the Bruce's face. In all seriousness, this one was a pleasant surprise. I didn't think Netflix had it in them. It's a gritty Hollywood historical epic that is recent and doesn't totally suck the immersion out of it with modern sensibilities. They really did a great job pulling me into 1300s Scotland with the sets and costumes. The cast was great too. They really brought the rating up that extra half star. Aaron Taylor-Johnson in particular was awesome. Even Florence Pugh was good. I never thought I'd ever say that. The cinematography was awesome in some parts. That one shot in the beginning was smooth as hell. Pacing struggled at some times, and the accents left something on the table at times, but overall this is an awesome film. I'm happy I stumbled upon it. It's one of the best historical epics I've seen in a while.

The movie has a gritty feel that works really well, and the battles are some of the highlights with a nice brutal, realistic style. Chris Pine is great in the lead role and does a good job making Robert the Bruce feel like more than just a historical figure. The scenery and overall atmosphere are also a big plus. It does slow down at times, and some parts don’t hit as hard as they probably should. A few characters could have used more development too. But the strong visuals, solid performances, and grounded approach make it an enjoyable watch. Not one of the best medieval movies out there, but definitely a good one.
- Adam9 de agosto de 2026Would have been better as a mini-series. Parts of it feel like a proper movie with interesting camera work and blocking and the rest feels made for TV. Typical Netflix.
