This seemed like a can’t miss premise for a Christmas movie. Turns out it missed pretty hard. Stiller and Cardelini were fine and I thought the kids were actually really good, but the humor just really wasn’t all that funny. Didn’t feel very Christmas-y at all either. Largely disappointing.

A Lackluster Holiday Attempt "Nutcrackers" aims to deliver holiday magic but falls far short of expectations, resulting in an experience that feels almost meaningless. The plot meanders without a clear purpose, and the script suffers from poor writing, filled with clichés and lifeless dialogue. This, paired with its overly slow pacing, makes it difficult to stay engaged. The visuals are uninspired, with bland set designs and lackluster cinematography that fail to capture the festive spirit. The characters are shallow and underdeveloped, offering little for viewers to connect with emotionally. Even moments that aim for humor or charm feel forced and ineffective. While Nutcrackers might appeal to someone who simply wants to pass the time with a holiday-themed movie, it ultimately fails to provide any memorable or enjoyable moments. It's a disappointing entry in the holiday movie lineup, lacking the warmth and joy that make the genre special.

I stopped at the halfway part. There are few nice things I can say about this movie. It's bad, but not in a "so bad it's funny" sort of way. There are no bad jokes because there are no jokes. They basically took Bad Daddy but took out any comedic elements, and instead of one rowdy kid, there are four. And I'm not saying that it *needs* to be a comedy, but the movie is literally called Nutcrackers and there's not any real sense of tension or drama either. It just sort of exists. But they pointed the camera in the right direction and the actors (children aside) knew their lines and hit their marks so 1.5 stars it is. The bonus .5 star is for what the second half of the movie *could* be, but chances are, I'll never find out.
