Maniquí Ratings & Reviews
- nairnmonster21 de marzo de 2026I have loved this since I was a wee boy. It's simple and silly fun. Sit back, relax and enjoy. Nothing else needs to be said really.
- Sabrina20 de febrero de 2026Somehow I missed this one growing up, and after seeing it finally, it's one of my all time favs.
- Callum15 de noviembre de 2025⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ – Mannequin – Spark, Style, and Romance in Window Display Mannequin is one of those wonderfully weird 80s films that could only work in that exact era — and work it does. It's a romance that has no business being as charming as it is: a struggling artist falls in love with a mannequin who, thanks to a magical spell, comes to life when no one else is watching. It’s absurd, utterly unconventional… and completely enchanting. The secret to why this film still works is the cast. Andrew McCarthy plays the earnest romantic lead with wide-eyed sincerity, while Kim Cattrall gives the mannequin-come-to-life role a spark of warmth and wit that elevates the whole concept. Supporting performances from G.W. Bailey and James Spader are deliciously over-the-top — embodying the corporate villains and bumbling antagonists 80s romcoms thrived on — while balancing the tone in perfect contrast to the central love story. It’s full of hijinks and misunderstandings, powered by a soundtrack that’s become iconic in its own right (“Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now” will play in your head for days), and it never once apologizes for its own strangeness. And therein lies the charm. In the end, it all comes together in classic American fashion: love wins, villains are thwarted, and the magic lingers just long enough to leave you grinning at the credits. The sequel tried to recapture the same lightning but never quite found it. This one, though — this one is a gem. A cult classic and a movie that’s equal parts whimsical, cheesy, earnest, and joyful. 💘 Pairing: A strawberry milkshake — sweet, nostalgic, and tinged with a little magic, just like this movie.
