He follows Max to the theater and asks for a job. He is thrown out for his pains. Later he signs up for Friday amateur night. Max in the meantime has won Mandy's love. Discovered by Willie, Willie bribes a gang to root for him and to hiss Max. He also buys them vegetables, eggs, etc., to throw at Max. The great night arrives. Willie, through his paid audience, is wildly encored. Max, however, is greeted with hoots and hisses, and a storm of stale vegetables. A riot follows. The manager turns the hose on the audience, and in the melee Willie rescues Mandy, only to be arrested as he is taking her from the theater, along with Max and others.
