The mini monologues written for Ernest are pure genius, downright comical and packed with that signature Varney wit. Watching Jim Varney slip between characters through his “hysterical perspective” gives a nod to his glory days in theater. The monster design and practical effects by The Chiodo Brothers (Killer Klowns From Outer Space) are top-notch, and Eartha Kitt’s inclusion is the icing on this wonderfully weird cake. No one will ever truly pick up the Ernest mantle, because if you know the history, you know: Jim Varney was Ernest, and Ernest was Jim Varney. So grab a glass of miak... uh, milk... and let Ernest handle your worries for the next 90 minutes. KnowwhatImean?

- Jacob31 de octubre de 2025Another year, another Ernest Scared Stupid stream with my best friend during Spooktober. I’m okay with this being the only Halloween movie I watch this month. It’s genuinely funny and touching, even if the script isn’t anything special. Jim Varney was a great actor who deserves more recognition for his acting abilities. I appreciate the laughs that Ernest has given me over the years, even as a child who grew up with these movies, thanks to my uncle. 🦇 Happy Halloween ‘25! 🫡
