- CoffeeJesus66626 de febrero de 2026This is a movie from my childhood. I still watch it fondly with nostalgic memories of 80s hip-hop and the music I was listening to at the time. I will lie to myself often and call this a great movie. I will blindly overlook the horrible acting and dreadful story and I will watch the movie remembering a time where things were fun and lighthearted. But let me break with a little reality here. Special K is a horrible actress. She starred in Ninja III: The Domination which is another one of my top 80s films but I have to be honest and say. She is terrible. Her character is a snooty rich girl who slums it with some inner city kids. Her character is young, dumb and pretty much oblivious to the world around her. Then there's Ozone… a hardened(?) street dancer everyone seems to think is a “thug” but truly is the most sensitive human being alive. He spends the whole movie playing the victim and not wanting to dance… but wanting to dance .. but not wanting to dance for their reasons… he is DYING to be offended at everything. Yet, talks extremely tough through the whole film. This gentleman's acting is atrocious as well. Not being able to pull off a simple line without causing the viewer to laugh uproariously at his horrible attempt. Apparently the guy is a real choreographer and legit dancer but truly he isn't the star of the trio… in fact.. he is the worst of the trio. Enter Turbo .. I get it… this movie needed Turbo .. Turbo is just as bad as an actor but the dudes dancing is just so far above everyone else in this movie that he adds a touch of legitimacy to a movie that needed some street cred. When Turbo dances you can truly see that this guy has something special. Later on I find out he was the innovator of Michael Jackson's famous Moonwalk and it's evident to see .. Turbo is needed in this film. Shooter McGavin is the best actor in the film. Everyone else is laughably bad. You also have to remember none of the dancing is really done to the proper music because they had to dance… and then find licensing for songs to add over their dancing. So the dancing does seem quite… whimsical and off beat. Special shout out to the girl in the yellow shirt of the dance battle who seems like she is so bad the directors never have confidence to show her do anything other than pump her arms in the air. And of course notorious pimp/gangster rapper Ice T giving the softest MC performance throughout the movie. That said .. I will watch this movie again and again… there is a magic to it in a way. Would I recommend it? Probably not .. you had to be there and live this era but .. boy I do enjoy this terrible, terrible movie.
