Scooby-Doo and the Curse of the Old “Indian“ Shaman. This certainly had the vibes of a classic 80’s camp slasher. The score was excellent and the familiar setup was great. I liked the fact that we have all these differing mechanisms for violence—the spook story of the ghost of an “indian” shaman, booby traps to catch said ghost, an abusive husband. I had a strong feeling we were in for a Scooby doo mystery with a Scooby doo ending. It didn’t disappoint in that regard. Obligatory shower scene and a smattering of gratuitous nudity furthered the classic camp vibes. But this was a little tough to follow at times. There’s two groups of campers, none of which are very memorable. On top of that we get flashbacks to 15 years prior, which means there’s a different timeline to keep track of also. There’s a decent amount of kills but none are very memorable, and most are preceded by a scene of someone just repeatedly calling out the name of one of the campers. “Rose! Rose! Are you there? Is that you, Rose! Roooooose! I’m ready to go home now”(stabbity stab stab). Repeat with Ben. “Ben!! Ben! Where are you?” Those parts dragged. Overall this had some elements that showed promise, but it didn’t quite deliver.
