- flavo4330 de diciembre de 2025Apollo 13 is a gripping, expertly crafted film that captures both the wonder and the peril of space exploration. Based on the real-life aborted Moon mission, the movie transforms a technical crisis into a deeply human drama centered on ingenuity, teamwork, and survival. From liftoff to splashdown, the tension never lets up, even though the outcome is historically known. The all-star trio—Tom Hanks, Kevin Bacon, and Bill Paxton—deliver grounded, believable performances that make the astronauts’ fear and determination feel immediate and real. Equally impressive is the supporting cast portraying Mission Control, where calm professionalism and mounting pressure drive home just how fragile success can be. The film excels at conveying adrenaline without resorting to exaggeration, relying instead on authenticity and precision. Ron Howard’s direction balances spectacle with intimate moments, allowing viewers to feel both the vast isolation of space and the collective effort required to bring the crew home safely. Apollo 13 is not just a space film—it’s a powerful tribute to human problem-solving, courage, and collaboration under extreme pressure.

- Callum21 de diciembre de 2025⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ — Apollo 13 — Failure is not an option Apollo 13 is essential viewing for anyone even remotely interested in biographical drama, disaster films, or true stories told with restraint and respect. It’s one of those rare movies where it feels almost redundant to praise it, because nearly everything that can be said already has been — and yet it still deserves saying again. The cast is uniformly excellent, but it’s hard not to single out Tom Hanks, who brings a calm, grounded authority to Jim Lovell that anchors the entire film. That said, this is very much an ensemble triumph. For me, this was the film that made Gary Sinise stand out — back when recognising an actor meant memory rather than a quick Google search. His performance quietly cements the human stakes behind the technical problem-solving. What really elevates Apollo 13 is how it balances spectacle with process. Yes, space is vast and terrifying, but the film never forgets that the real drama is procedural: engineers with slide rules, astronauts with dwindling options, and teams under pressure making the least-worst decisions possible. It also helped cement my own fascination with space, systems, and safety culture — something that, knowing what I do for a living, feels very much like a straight line from this film. It’s obviously dramatised, but by all accounts it stays impressively close to the real events, at least in spirit. And that’s what matters here: the truth of the situation, the teamwork, and the razor-thin margins. Two things worth stating plainly: Even if you don’t care about space or science, this is still worth watching purely for the story and performances. This is a five-star film only because the scale doesn’t go higher — it earns every bit of praise it’s ever received. 🥃 Pairing: A strong black coffee or a neat whiskey — something steady, grounding, and quietly respectful of the seriousness of the moment.
- รҡ૨אρƭเ∂2 de marzo de 2025A space film and true story that's an American classic.. what more can you ask for? Yet another reason the 90's was the last Great American Decade. 8.1/10
- tellum19 de agosto de 2025Great portrayal of one the biggest disasters in American history, that ended up being one of NASA’s greatest triumphs. Great acting from all involved does justice to this historic event.
- Kevin Ward1 de julio de 2025One of my all-time favorites. Just amazed at what the actors and the camera crew accomplished filming this in actual zero-g in 30-ish second increments. Incredible tension and drama, outstanding cast. Probably Ed Harris’s greatest roles. RIP Bill Paxton. Personally I was rooting for Hanks to get a third consecutive best actor Oscar, but he didn’t get the nom. This is one of my comfort movies though.
- Phillip Jepsen22 de junio de 2025Classic disaster response film, heavily based on real events. Hanks and co give fantastic performances, I watch it once or twice a year
- The Gutter Monkey7 de febrero de 2025Very Hollywood, but never veers into Michael Bay-level spectacle and melodrama. It endeavors to be historically and scientifically accurate and the sentimentality it evokes, it earns.
- assmo5 de octubre de 2025Its really good, i love disaster movies, this is good for that kind of people
- Durosity16 de septiembre de 2025Wonderfully put together movie, right balance of action, drama, and heart.
- Chris16 de agosto de 2025Ex Luna, Scientia! After hearing the news last week that CDR Lovell passed away, I knew it was time for a bittersweet rewatch. As expected, the film still holds up over 30 years later. Featuring an ensemble cast, outstanding technical depth and detail, and a reasonably-limited use of dramatic/artistic license, Apollo 13 is an authentic and compelling portrayal of one of NASA's greatest crises and the massive collaborative effort to "work the problem" and bring about its successful resolution. My grandfather worked on the LM program at Grumman, training Apollo astronauts and technical staff on its radio systems, and I have fond childhood memories of asking him probably a thousand questions when this first released (poor guy is 97 now and still answering them to this day). Now that alone would be reason enough for this to make my top 10 list, but then on top of that it's actually a *good* film? Absolute no-brainer!
- Joachim19 de mayo de 2025Great movie
- Mister Arn14 de mayo de 2025Ron Howard does a good job of telling a true story with accuracy, while still keeping the drama needed to make it fun to watch.
- shirazesat3 de mayo de 2025Some aspects of what happened could have been better explained - but maybe the idea is that I'm meant to read the autobiography this is based off.
