Alien³ Ratings & Reviews
- Zokkiie1 de abril de 2026Honestly kinda mixed on this one. It’s got a cool, dark vibe going and I did like how bleak it feels — definitely stands out in that way. Some moments look great and stick with you for a bit. But yeah, it never really clicks as a whole. Feels a bit messy, like it didn’t fully figure out what it wanted to be. Some parts feel rushed, others just kind of drift. Not bad or anything, just a bit frustrating because you can see it could’ve been way better.
- DTSaito29 de marzo de 2026I absolutely love this movie, David Fincher doesn't.. The movie has such an atmosphere, really dark. He even consulted HR Giger for the creature design. Make sure you watch the 'Directors Cut'!
- naren shenoy16 de marzo de 2026This was worse than I remember. The special effects were shoddy even for that time period. Abandoning practical effects for animation, we get a xenomorph that is inconsistent in scale and scope throughout the movie. I did like that we were back to one alien terrorizing multiple humans, but beyond that, this was poorly written and executed, which is surprising considering the director’s history beyond this movie. For franchise fans only. Missable for everyone else.
- Ray Hopkin13 de octubre de 2024I love this movie. I get it that it's not as good as the first two movies, but I really like how the story goes (although I hate that they killed off Newt). It's incredibly creepy and atmospheric, and builds on the Alien mythology.
- JesseAndKendraL.15 de abril de 2025The A34K Legacy Cut is the definitive cut of Alien 3 and the best way to watch the movie.
- Otacon!24 de febrero de 2026Alien 3 is a hard movie. I had seen it more than 10 times over the years and I could say that now I have a better opinion of it. Knowing how many times the story in pre-production has changed, how may problems and directors have taken the script... The final result is solid. It is for sure inferior to the previous iterations, but its not that bad. I can't understand why they hadn't had take inspiration from comics that has SO many good story to tell.. but ok, it's an ok movie if you love the Xeno
- Darth Phyve17 de abril de 2025A brilliant fan edit of a much-maligned movie..,it gives Fincher's bastard child a legitimate foot-hold in the franchise.
- Paul Walsh13 de febrero de 2026A slight misfire but nowhere near the disaster as many would have you believe. The director's cut is the way to go!
- Marc Marc27 de diciembre de 2025Alien to the power of 3, the title of this movie is almost as confused as the writing, it’s slow paced and lacking the tension and excitement of the first two, some things work, most things don’t, I was amazed Sigourney Weaver co-produced this disappointing sequel.
- Jimmy James15 de abril de 2025Just finished watching the Legacy Cut. It's a vast improvement on the original. Imo it takes the movie from a solid 3 star to a generous 4 star. The CG has been improved; some editing changes; 4k with film grain intact; and in general, a more fun watch. The biggest takeaway is the Legacy Cut was born of passion for the movie; something that definitely can't be said for the other two cuts out there. Given the movie's past, the Legacy Cut will probably be the closest we ever get to a director's cut, and after having watched it, I'm ok with that.
- Callum19 de diciembre de 2025⭐⭐⭐ – Alien³ — Bleak, Cerebral, and Unapologetically Unkind I know this one divides people, but I genuinely love Alien³. It’s not on the same level as the first two films, and I completely understand why many fans bounced off it — especially with the decision to kill off Newt, which still stings. But taken on its own terms, there’s something compelling about how dark, strange, and uncompromising this entry is. The atmosphere is suffocating. The prison colony setting is grim, industrial, and joyless, and that sense of despair bleeds into every frame. It’s less about jump scares and more about inevitability — the feeling that there’s no escape, only delay. In that sense, it builds on the Alien mythology in a more philosophical way, asking what survival even means when hope has already been stripped away. This is a far more cerebral film than its predecessors. It’s disorienting by design, sometimes frustratingly so, but that disorientation feeds into the tone. Ripley is once again the voice of reason — and once again, nobody listens to her. The plan is solid, the setting is perfect for containment, and yet everything still feels on the brink of collapse. The effects are a mixed bag. The CGI clearly wasn’t ready at the time and hasn’t aged well, but the practical effects remain strong and tactile, reminding you why hands-on creature work still matters. Even when it falters technically, the film’s commitment to its bleak vision carries it through. Alien³ is a strange entry — less scary, more contemplative, and far harsher than the films before it. But it succeeds in its own way, and it certainly doesn’t go down easy. Still not nice. Still very Alien. 🥃 Pairing: A heavy red wine — dark, bitter, and lingering, leaving an aftertaste you don’t necessarily enjoy but can’t ignore.
- Steve Trezza11 de abril de 2025Assembly cut fleshes out the story more.
- Tom Majski24 de noviembre de 2025To me this much maligned sequel is an amazing follow up to Aliens. It completes a trilogy of movies that feel distinctly 70's, 80's and 90's in the best way. None of them compete with each other but they all feel worthy in their own right. Yes, out of the 3 this is the weakest, but considering the pedigree of Alien and Aliens thats hardly a condemning statement. This time I finally saw the Assembly cut. Whilst I genuinely enjoyed the original theatrical release, the extended version does bring it together narratively. Albeit at the expense of feeling a little bloated in parts. Down to the movie though. The idea of a prison planet is great. Isolated and worthless, without weapons or hope of help. Its such a cool and singular idea and really captures the vastness and weirdness of space for the last time in the series. Nothing feels this lonely in the franchise again. The cast is really good too. Brian Glover as Andrews steals the show with surprising backup from Charles Dance and Pete Postlethwaite. The surprising group of British allstars adds a really fun variation that just works. Visually the entire film takes place seemingly in the steelworks from Terminator 2. Maybe the set was still fresh from a year earlier. It looks great and has a tonne of fun atmosphere. Shame the CGI and chase sequences let it down a little. All in all I love it. A total change in direction and vibe for a movie that doesn't even try to compete with Camerons entry and is all the better for it. Considering the production difficulties, the result lands really well for me, which seems contrary to a lot of opinions.
- mickerdoo12 de noviembre de 2025Gotta listen to Ripley. Perfect scenery and plan but pretty disorienting. The CGI wasn't ready but practicals are always so good in these.
- MetroidTalon22 de agosto de 2025The theatrical cut of Alien³ is a bold but uneven swing. Visually bleak and thematically heavy, it ditches the crowd-pleasing setup of Aliens in favor of grim fatalism. Fincher’s direction is already confident, but the studio interference bleeds through. Characters blur together, key scenes feel rushed, and major emotional beats land flat. There’s power buried in here, but the cut keeps getting in its own way. A frustrating sequel with flashes of greatness that hint at the film it could have been.
