Where to Watch Alien: Covenant
- marshalseahace 5 dOr as it should be called "Stupid People Do Stupid Things In Space And Die: 2" The writing is bad... like grade a bad "Wouldn't it be cool if the spore from the plant went in his ear and then..." "Would it be cool if it came out his back instead of his chest?" "Wouldn't it be cool if the medical/quaratine thing was all slippery, cause we'd never expect there to be blood everywhere" "Wouldn't it be cool if... if... " You can see that's the thinking behind the script and the answer to any of these things is inevitably "No... no it wouldn't." There's also a lot of plot bs - like "The music is too loud that they don't hear the alarm". Now, I may not be in the future, but I am here now and my music gets dimmed when the alarm goes off on my phone... and it's this sort of shallow dumb character death driven points that continue to let this film down. The continued quarantine problems in all these recent films is just stupid and lazy from the writers. "Wouldn't it be cool if they ignored quarantine yet again - and this time it wasn't because the Captain ordered it they're just stupid and lazy cause I'm stupid and lazy and can't work out how to make this rubbish I've written be anything better than Year 12 idiocy" As for the dialogue... not sure if better actors would deliver it better, but I suspect anyone reading this crap would struggle. It's second only to AvP2 on the worse of these films, and that means it's worse than Predator 2, which is objectively awful in all the same ways. It does however looks amazing, and there's some good moments mixed in amongst all this. It's just... every time someone gets a bit more clever they then immediately turn stupid again. It is also the first Ridley film where you realise he's just there for the paycheck.
- Zokkiie31 de marzo de 2026I was disappointed when leaving the cinema after watching it the first time, and I’ve only grown to hate it since. The direction they took the story in, along with some of the choices, were a gigantic mistake—especially that weird “parent trap” angle with the androids. It just feels awkward and out of place rather than clever or meaningful. I don’t mind the cast, they did a solid job with what they were given. Visually it’s strong, and there are a few moments of real tension. But the characters make frustratingly dumb decisions, and it over-explains things that were better left mysterious. It’s not terrible, but it really misses the mark and loses what made the earlier films so good.
- mdediego14 de marzo de 2026Alien: Covenant feels like an unfinished work—a film that could have reached a wider audience, given that it reintroduced the Xenomorph and was intended to be the direct prequel to Alien. Instead, it fails to satisfy true Alien fans and doesn't manage to attract non-core viewers. I suspect Scott had to contend with budget cuts and made the most of what he had, but it still feels like a missed opportunity.
- Oʂɯαʅԃσ Rσყҽƚƚ11 de marzo de 2026In the first 20 minutes I was so happy with Covenant. It felt sharp, atmospheric, there are interesting character situations, emotive moments and infinitely better writing than we had in Prometheus. As it progresses, this feeling continues - thankfully, a solid sci-fi film that got it right.
- naren shenoy3 de marzo de 2026An improvement on its predecessor, Prometheus, but still suffers from some of the same issues as said movie. Mostly in the “why are these supposedly intelligent people doing stupid things” kind of way. I did enjoy both of these Alien prequels, perhaps more than most, if for nothing else getting some exposition. It is a shame we did not get to see David’s arc close and see how it officially would have connected to the Nostromo. Michael Fassbender was magnificent as always. And special shout out to Danny McBride, not playing Danny McBride in this movie. Worth a watch? Yes. Carve out time for it? Probably no.
- Callum19 de diciembre de 2025⭐⭐⭐½ – Alien: Covenant — Effective Horror, Uneasy Continuation Alien: Covenant is a solid entry in the franchise — not a return to the towering heights of Alien or Aliens, but comfortably stronger than Alien³ or Alien Resurrection. It sits in that middle ground where enjoyment comes less from innovation and more from execution. One of the more frustrating aspects is how it handles the ideas introduced in Prometheus. There were some genuinely interesting philosophical threads there, and Covenant largely sidesteps or simplifies them in favour of more traditional horror beats. That may bother some more than others; personally, I can live with it, even if it feels like a missed opportunity. Where the film does succeed is in atmosphere and tension. Ridley Scott’s return behind the camera is obvious — the pacing, framing, and sense of dread feel far more controlled than in some of the later sequels. The horror leans into discomfort and revulsion rather than bombast, and when it wants to be scary, it mostly delivers. The alien redesigns aren’t especially ambitious, but they don’t need to be. They’re vicious, unpleasant, and effective — roaring, writhing reminders of why this creature remains one of cinema’s great monsters. The film may not expand the mythology in a satisfying way, but it understands the primal fear at the heart of the series. Overall, Alien: Covenant is an enjoyable watch — flawed, divisive, but far from a misfire. It doesn’t redefine the franchise, but it proves there’s still life (and horror) left in it. 🥃 Pairing: A smoky whisky with a sharp finish — familiar, slightly bitter, and best appreciated if you already know the flavour profile going in.
