Aimée & Samir

Directed by Catherine van Campen
Director Catherine van Campen creates a cinematic portrait of graphic novelist Aimée de Jongh. Aimée de Jongh (1988) is an award-winning graphic novel author and animator from the Netherlands, whose books are published in more than 30 countries. With roots in the Dutch East Indies, themes such as history, migration, and human relationships frequently recur in her work. For the documentary, we follow Aimée during the research for her new book. During this journey, she is confronted with saddening life stories and charged places to which Aimée, both as a person and as a graphic novel author, must relate.
