I liked the outbreak, the immunity potential, Renner and Byrne. Still striking to see public places vacant.

A whelming sequel that has a lot going for it but is ultimately ruined by the worst duo of children to ever grace horror cinema. Rare is it that I sincerely wish for children to die in a movie, but those little freaks are directly responsible for every single atrocity that occurs from the moment they get on their bike and escape the quarantine zone--and yet the film itself never once treats them as anything other than the most important people in the entire universe because they are innocent children who do no wrong. Unfortunately karma never catches up to them, but the rest of the film has some great scenes that almost make up for the horrid plot contrivences that allowed them in the first place.

Stupid characters making stupid choices all the time.

Mostly forgettable action horror flick. On the plus side, not a lot of plot armor for main characters, which is a quality more films would benefit from. I was genuinely surprised at who died and how.

Excellent sequel with the debut of a promising actress at the time : Imogene Poots.

I jumped straight into this movie after finishing 28 Days Later, and it is a jarring experience. The low-fi cinematography is completely gone, but the soundtrack remains excellent. The plot shifts away from a survival story to more of a military action flick, almost like the shift from Alien to Aliens. There is also an attempt to build more lore, though I wouldn't say it really does all that much. I think this movie starts out incredibly strong. The opening scene is far better than that of the first movie, and the first half is going in some interesting directions that are really focused on family dynamics. However, a little bit before halfway, this movie just shifts into a dumb action movie. There is a ton of shaky camera and lots of dark scenes that make it borderline impossible to follow. I'm not even really sure what the purpose of some of the characters and their arcs were because they are ultimately discarded by the end. I don't think the first movie is a brilliant character drama, but this movie in particular feels like just a cameo fest of famous faces that are fully wasted. The worst part is that I actually think this movie had a lot of potential initially had it tried to just hone in on its central family instead of the military.

American military do be inept like that Possibly the most egregious use of exaggerated sound dynamics in film. There HAS to be some volume levels between “all dialogue is quieter than a whisper” and “every explosion on the telly feels like the windows of my flat are gonna blow out” Couldn’t remember shit about this film but I did remember that it had one hell of an opening and it still holds up! Some terrible decisions made once again but hey at least that sticks with the theme! Yet somehow the worst is the kids!! Pretty decent cast in hindsight! I enjoyed the callbacks to the original as well as the fact Robert Carlyle stars despite Danny Boyle not directing lol Hated some of the direction during the biting action, ngl! People really need to start wiping infected blood from getting near their orifices! Helicopter scene remains badass This movie attempts to be so bleak and gloomy that it became corny tbh. A very dissatisfying ending with an even worse teaser! Glad that idea didn’t come to fruition!

I feel like there’s not a lot you can do with “fast zombies “, and after a while the chaotic vibe just wears thin. There sure is a hell of a lot of running and hiding.

Lacking the raw indie feel of the first, It slips into becoming a more standard albeit component entry to the zombie genre.

A very serviceable sequel with a much larger budget. There are several genuinely frightening scenes and the film is reminiscent of older movies such as The Crazies.

Different than the first one but for sure worth the watch. Impressive special FX

You know what if Danny Boyle & Alex Garland can pretend this film never happened then so can I

The story of a bunch of people behaving erratically, making nonsensical decisions and taking idiotic risks. Unless you're a big fan of the franchise this one is not worth it, which is a shame for the pretty good cast. The script is clunky, rickety at best. Also the music is annoyingly repetitive.

"Yo what if we put all the dumbest mfs in one movie" Opening scene was great tho, and that night vision scene in the subway was really creepy. And yeah the score is great too but it's literally the same score from the previous movie.
