Produced by Frontier Films and recorded before live audiences in Dublin, the series features a mix of American and Irish musicians performing together. The first series was filmed in the summer of 1987 and were the first programmes to be made in RTÉ’s Studio 4. The second series was filmed in 1988 over three nights in the Point Theatre in Dublin as the opening event in what is now called the 3arena.
