Doctor Who Ratings & Reviews
- Richard12 October 2025Doctor Who isn’t just a show, it’s a cultural time machine. Born in 1963, it introduced us to the Doctor: a mysterious Time Lord from Gallifrey who travels through time and space in a blue police box called the TARDIS. With each regeneration, the Doctor changes face and personality, but the core remains, a champion of justice, curiosity, and compassion. For many and me, Tom Baker is the Doctor and not forgetting Elisabeth Sladen as Sarah Jane. With his wild curls, booming voice and iconic scarf, he brought a mix of alien eccentricity and deep humanity that defined the role for a generation. His era leaned into gothic horror, moral ambiguity and philosophical depth, with stories like Genesis of the Daleks and The Deadly Assassin that still resonate. But after a long decline and cancellation in 1989, the TARDIS went silent, until 2005. That’s when Russell T Davies led a bold reboot, reintroducing the Doctor (now played by Christopher Eccleston) to a new generation. It wasn’t just a revival, it was a regeneration of the entire idea. Faster pacing, deeper emotional arcs and modern effects brought the show back to life, while still honoring its roots. Billie Piper’s Rose Tyler wasn’t just a companion, she was the audience’s heart, and the chemistry between her and Eccleston made the show sing. Since then, Doctor Who has evolved again and again, with each new Doctor adding their own flavor, from Tennant’s romantic heroism to Capaldi’s grizzled wisdom. But through it all, the show remains what it always was: a celebration of imagination, empathy and the belief that even one person, armed with nothing but a screwdriver and a sense of wonder can change the universe.
- RogerXombie6 October 2025Probably the best show ever produced. There is so much variety that there is something for everyone and in every genre you could want. The budget is not always the greatest but the storytelling is almost always top notch.
- parralox20 November 2025Perfect Science Fiction. 1963-1989.
- Alex19 December 2025Always one of my favourite TV series of all time. Some of it doesn't stand up very well today but if you saw it going out at the time it was one of the most funny, exciting and imaginative programmes made for curious, intelligent young minds. Well ahead of its time.
