Prometheus Ratings & Reviews
- protowiccan24 April 2025Prometheus is a visually striking film, but a completely infuriating mess to watch. We are supposed to believe these people are some of humanities greatest minds, but most of them act so unbelievably incompetent I have difficulties believing they could go to the bathroom unsupervised.
- John Shadel26 June 2025Easily the best of all the Alien movies. It's a must see.
- Zokkiie6 days agoLooks incredible and has some genuinely cool sci-fi ideas, but it never fully clicks. You can tell there were a lot of strong concepts behind it, but also that a bunch of stuff got changed or cut along the way—it feels messy in places because of that. The balance between action and horror is kind of all over the place too, like it can’t decide what it wants to be. The cast does a solid job though. Michael Fassbender is easily the standout—calm, creepy, and way more interesting than most of what’s going on around him. Noomi Rapace brings some real intensity, even if the script doesn’t always help her, and Charlize Theron feels a bit underused but still adds presence. Still, it’s not bad. It adds something to the universe and has enough interesting moments to make it worth watching, just don’t expect it to come together as smoothly as it should.
- jackmeat27 January 2025My quick rating - 7.5/10. This is an excellent sci-fi flick. Interesting way to start a review, eh? It looks spectacular visually and in terms of editing. The story itself is unique (I believe it was a comic book at some point) but either way, the plot will draw you in. Noomi Rapace does an excellent job in the lead, but no surprise there, she is a great actress. I did find the other characters a tad bit irritating aside from the Captain. Charlize Theron was used sparingly so not much to say (I read she was also considered for the lead). The action scenes are paced nicely and are used when needed but not overdone. When the action scenes were used, they were filmed so well even with the mix of CGI but I almost didn't even notice, well, almost lol. The obvious influence of the late H.R. Giger was also a nice touch, giving homage to the great artwork he graced us with. At 2 hours long, I was hard-pressed to even notice how long it was since I was that into the film. One way to end this short blurb is I am looking forward to the sequel which is coming in 2017. I believe any sci-fi fan would agree and will be looking forward to it as well. Non-sci-fi fans most likely will appreciate an interesting story and well-made movie so my final thought, see it.
- marshalsea23 August 2025Stupid People Do Stupid Things In Space and Die! It starts with bbq James Franco, and turns out my gut instinct about him being a weasel was right. Well done aholedar. So all in all good start to a film If it wasn't an Alien film it would be better, but it is... And it fails. Not as badly as Alien Covenant, which was truly awful: Stupid People Do Even More Stupider Things In Space and Die. Another film, like AC where the actors and sets aren't to blame, in fact look amazing. It's another where the story sucks donkey ahole. Lindelhof's continued "Wouldn't it be cool if..." ruins what was a serviceable script by Spaights. (Go read the original it's not bad - bit Star Gate naff in places but hey ho.). Has he been removed from the pool yet?
- mdediego14 March 2026Prometheus takes us back to the Alien franchise with the promise of expanding the universe and answering some of the questions that the dedicated fan base has had since the first Alien was released. The movie answers some of them, leaves others unanswered, and raises new ones. Visually impeccable and maintaining the H. R. Giger atmosphere, the film is probably not for everyone, but it is something that true Alien fans will enjoy.
- El Jefe17 August 2025IMHO ... Best Alien movie 🍿 of them all. HUGE ideas, revelations, plot twists, excellent production values big sets, excellent soundtrack, top actors. I still hope one day we can find out how it all goes back to Space Jockey.
- Oʂɯαʅԃσ Rσყҽƚƚ13 March 2026Prometheus is an eminently rewatchable film that provides new layers of meaning with each repeat visit. How often does a master filmmaker get to revisit their original oeuvre and recreate an even bigger world around and about it? The myth of the engineers and their world changing experimentation is absolutely romantic, compelling and terrifying at the same time.
- WadePhelps10 March 2026i love sci fi. this one did not do it for me. too predictable
- MacBobby Chibuzor4 March 2026Really amazing movie.
- ርልዪረ7 February 2025... It's not a Prequel. It's a new film in the Alien universe with a separate storyline. I was disappointed it did not show a back story to Alien 1979 but also pleased that Ridley produced a sci-fi masterclass. A simple script that barely juggled big topics but it was good enough for a theatrical release. I suspect Fox had a hand with it being different from Alien, but Ridley in conferences held for Prometheus did say it is not a Prequel. That said a lot of ignorant Alien fans continued to dream stubbornly for a Alien prequel and got a big shock on June first 2012.
- Daniel Taylor2 August 2025I really enjoyed Prometheus. It’s such an interesting way to dive into the beginnings of the Alien franchise. The story sets up so many questions and connections to the other movies that it makes you want to dig deeper into the lore. You can’t deny it leaves you wishing for more answers—especially about the links to the original alien planet.
- Otacon!24 February 2026I really loved this movie. NOT from the Xeno-franchise prospective but like a movie. The photography is amazing, the music score is great and the cast is really good. This was a beautiful hope that we will get a good prequel for the Alien franchise. Now we know that all those good thing was a waste of money and time. It's a shame because I really enjoyed the movie
- Brad.Plex.13 October 2024The return of Ridley Scott to the Alien franchise was supposed to herald a return to greatness for the franchise but instead falls flat. While the visuals are stunning, the plot and characters are some of the most non-sensical in the series.
- mrandy15 January 2026Does a pretty decent job of being an original story for the Alien movies.
