Where to Watch Hereditary
Hereditary Ratings & Reviews
- Allie Tran30 May 2025This is what I would consider a perfect horror movie. I remember watching this from home and having the crap scared out of me during that *SPOILER* one scene with the mom floating on the ceiling. Not only does it excel in its scariness, but has excellent acting, writing, everything.
- Tanalien2 November 2024Hereditary is a family drama disguised as a horror film. Given the brutality of these experiences and how they are captured, Ari Aster either turned his personal experience into a screen story, imagined such grievous trauma in his mind, or combined both truth and fiction. Hereditary is very often a hard watch, but it always feels honest.

- jackmeat3 days agoMy quick rating - 7.7/10. Horror tends to not be this good. So when gems like this rise up, you need to quickly get your eyes trained on them. The elements that make this so good are interwoven through a story of a disturbing family secret that seems to be more than just an accident in the family. In a good horror flick, you need to have some mystery along with the scares to keep you interested in just why it is happening. Or just go all out with gore and show boobs. Well, as each style has their own place and audience, the more true viewer tends to like a good story along with the scares, and if their needs to be blood, then make it memorable without being gratuitous. The balance here is kept fully in check, and as each bit of info this family finds, or opens if you will, the more drawn in they (and you) become. The acting in this movie is really quite good, with each character dealing with the things around them in a very realistic way. One wants to dive head first into the spirit world, while others are terrified of it. And all are effected differently due to this. An excellent entry into any horror collection, and really is a two watch flick to pick up on everything, well, not really, just the end will make you want to go back and pick up some pieces that were stuck in there. A must see for true horror fans that want to just peel away from the torture porn for a bit (and you know I am a fan of that, but we all need some balance to our movie viewing).
- tellum18 August 2025I did not enjoy this as much as other horror fans, for me it was very plodding and the ending I didn’t care for. But there is some very disturbing imagery that is burned in my brain, and relatable realistic terror as well as supernatural terror. For bigger fans of the genre this is still a good movie.

- Evan May30 July 2025Harrowing. The true terrors are in the first half. The second half tells a story to make sense of them. If only generational demons were so simple. The explanation is inexplicable. The result is multitonal, a partly comical fever dream dressed in visual discomfort. Yet the dread lingers past the runtime. Every scene holds attention. But the real artists were Steve Newburn and his team creating all those miniatures.
- tony brown18 April 2026YES! This is a real family film
- P. Logan27 January 2025No horror movie has better instilled that feeling of impending dread than Hereditary.
- Richard Gobin9 January 2026Now this film is a modern classic! The whole atmosphere creeped me out. From a tragic family and the evil that connects them through passing down from another generation as the film title describes is one of my top horror movies.

- MrTrivet22 September 2025Hereditary is, for me, an absolute masterpiece - a perfect balance between paranormal horror and a heavy, family drama. An unpredictable scare is a true rarity. Some scenes, and especially that one - you know the one – make your stomach drop, your heart stop, and it’s hard to believe what’s happening on screen. The film is incredibly unsettling, full of allegories and high emotional stakes. The finale was so absurd that it left me in maniacal laughter. The characters navigate increasingly twisted experiences, and the film offers a horror-infused perspective on the stages of grief - what would normally distort our perception of reality here finds full justification in what unfolds on screen. This is one of those films that stays with you for a long time, showing just how powerful horror can be when it intersects with human tragedy. Toni Collette is simply brilliant, and I believe this film will ensure her place in the annals of horror cinema.
- Scott beard9 December 2025⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Hereditary* A Horror That Stays With You…. Hereditary isn’t just a horror film, it’s a full-on psychological punch to the face. In the best way… and also the worst. It gets under your skin from the first minute and doesn’t let go. The atmosphere is heavy, the acting is unreal, and some scenes stick in your brain whether you want them there or not. Toni Collette deserves a trophy just for surviving that performance. The whole film feels uncomfortable in a very real, human way, which is why it works so well. It doesn’t rely on cheap jump scares. It creeps up on you slowly, then hits you with moments that make you sit there thinking “what did I just watch?” It’s one of the few modern horrors that actually feels original. Disturbing, clever, and unforgettable. Not the kind of movie you watch before bed unless you enjoy nightmares doing parkour in your head.
