I may be in the minority on this one but I have a morbid fascination with this film. It's strangely intriguing to watch a man go through the paces of his final 24 hours leading up to a shocking and tragic death.
Many people will find this movie boring and I get that. I also get what James Franco is trying to do here. Mineo's career peaked early and then fell hard. He was beginning a comeback when his life was suddenly taken. We get a look at where he was and where he was going right before (poof) it was all gone.
Mystery has shrouded the circumstances of Mineo's murder for almost 50 years. This film doesn't really probe that mystery but it does provoke questions we all have. When and how are we going to die? What will our lastl day be like? What unfinished business will we have?
