In this Man about the house spin off, George and Mildred Roper have moved from their ground floor flat to a middle class housing estate. Mildred is still man hungry and still strives for a better standard of life. George on the other hand is still lazy, a bit dim, proud of his working class roots, lacking in ambition and devoted to his old wreck of a motorcycle and sidecar. Next door live the Fourmiles family, with Jeffrey who is snooty and looks down on the working class. He lives with his likeable wife, Ann, and their son Tristram who is constantly being influenced by George. Later the Fourmiles have another baby Tarquin. Other regular characters are Mildred`s posh and materialistic Sister Ethel and brother in law Humphrey. There is also the best pal of George who is the lazy lay about Jerry, Moby the Goldfish and Truffles the Yorkshire Terrier. This complete series DVD set is a great product. There is some great comedy here. The show ran from 1976 to 1979 and was very successful. It is full of misunderstandings. George often gets the wrong end of the stick in all things. The first series is not the best. It is good but the other series just get better and better. So it is worth sticking with it. There are some very funny episodes and Brian Murphy and Yootha Joyce are excellent with their comedy timing. George and Mildred is a very good classic comedy and this complete set will offer much entertainment.
