John Carter
John wordt onverwachts overgebracht naar de mysterieuze en exotische planeet Barsoom (Mars) waar hij terecht komt in een enorm conflict tussen de inwoners van deze planeet. Waaronder Tars Tarkas en de betoverende Prinses Dejah Thoris. In een wereld die op instorten staat ontdekt Carter dat de redding van Barsoom in zijn handen ligt.

This movie was failed by marketing. On its run up, some commercials showed a western, others showed sci-fi; never truly showing it was both. Not adding "of Mars" also hampered it.
For the movie itself - it had been a long time since I felt the wonder and awe of cinema - not since the original Star Wars trilogy. This should have kicked off a franchise - but like Sorcerer's Apprentice, Prince of Persia, and Tron: Legacy - they were one-offs that Disney didn't have the patience to develop further.
