Filmen handlar om high school-brottaren Louden Swain som blir förälskad i dagdrivaren Carla. Detta är Madonnas första roll i en större spelfilm, där hon spelar ledsångerskan i ett lokalt band som spelar bland annat Crazy For You and Gambler.

Is this movie just copium for gen x who peaked in high school? Other than the music, which is awesome, the rest of the movie is just a bingo board of Hollywood coming of age tropes. You've got a bunch of ripped 28 year olds playing high schoolers, a love story as wooden as handmade Amish furniture, and a predictable sports arc that still feels 20 minutes too long.
It would've been way better if Louden realized he liked dudes better while he was getting his foreplay on in the ring.
