Dolittle

Ok, yet another movie that was let down by the lack of imagination in our society. This isn’t the same movie as any other Dolittle with the same name. Dr. Dolittle doesn’t have animals talking to him — he speaks their language. If you’re going to compare it to anything, compare it to the original, not the Eddie Murphy version.
The movie opens with Robert Downey Jr. grunting, growling, clicking, and making every other animalistic sound you can imagine. He’s not losing his mind — that ship already sailed — those are just the ramblings of a man who hasn’t spoken to another human in years.
This film has it all: comedy, action, great acting, strong voice work, and an honestly wonderful story. I think people went in expecting Eddie Murphy’s Dolittle and missed that this was a remake and re-imagining of the original. And if that doesn’t sell you, there’s a scene where a parrot tells a gorilla to kick a tiger in the “down there.”
Watch this movie if you're willing to ignore previous iterations of the Dr and just want a good clean laugh.
