After a rather slow first act, Forbidden planet picks up the pace and gives us a wonderful example of what sci-fi is all about. Mixing philosophical musings with action spectacle and amazing visual and special effects.
It reminds me so much of the original Star trek series, and why I love it so much. This must have been an inspiration for Gene Roddenberry.
