Get Carter
Jack Carter is a small-time hood working in London. When word reaches him of his brother's death, he travels to Newcastle to attend the funeral. Refusing to accept the police report of suicide, Carter seeks out his brother’s friends and acquaintances to learn who murdered his sibling and why.

This is an absolute classic. I first saw this a long time ago on Moviedrome, and watching it again, it never fails to pull me in, and it never lets go. Michael Caine is an absolute evil bastard in this, and he's surrounded by a menagerie of low life scum. It's an unrelenting film, that wears it's humour jet black. And such a downbeat, bleak ending.
