Road Games

ヒッチハイク・キラー
The sun drenched days of summer turn dark and ominous for hitchhiking duo Jack and Véronique when they become inexplicably entangled with a mysterious married couple and a local road kill collector in rural France.
My main criticism of "Road Games" is that, it took a while to get going because; the 1st half was very slow, not much was happening there was no sense of tension building, no atmosphere, it didn't keep me guessing either. Which in a movie like this are very big ingredients to have, for it to work all the way through.
However I must say the 2nd half of Road Games really picked up significantly. There was a vast improvement over the 1st half, the tension & atmosphere was there all of a sudden.
It was much better paced. I was a lot more gripped, interested & invested. And most crucially they really stuck the landing with that twist and how the film wrapped up as well.
I thought it was very well done and the twist did get me...which is brilliant.
It was as if they had a different director come in at the 2nd half of the film and ultimately save it; because it was a hell of a lot better. Also there was a lot more happening, it really came to life. Had the 1st half been anywhere near as good as the 2nd, this movie goes up a full star easily.
The funny thing is it's usually the other way round in how I normally complain about and criticise movies in films like this especially; where there usually really solid and setup great tension, atmosphere & foundation in the 1st & 2nd acts. But then ultimately drop the ball in the last act and don't stick that landing.
Road Games is the complete opposite to all that. "As I've already mentioned" I know I'm repeating myself. 🤫
Overall this is a film I would recommend!!
