Frozen 2 had its moments – the animation was stunning, the songs were catchy (if a little less memorable than the first), and Elsa's new powers were pretty cool. However, I have to be honest, one thing really stuck out to me and, frankly, chilled me to the bone: Olaf's sartorial choices. Or, rather, his distinct lack thereof.
Now, I understand he's a snowman. But throughout the entire film, my mind kept drifting back to the glaring absence of trousers. He has arms, a nose, even buttons! So why no pants? It just seemed like a missed opportunity for character development. Was it a conscious fashion statement? A protest against the oppressive sartorial norms of Arendelle? We'll never know, and that's a disappointment.
Beyond the pant-less enigma, the plot felt a bit convoluted at times, and I found myself missing some of the simpler charm of the original. Still, it's a visually impressive film with some good emotional beats. Just... someone get that snowman some trousers, please. Three stars.
