MCU and Disney’s Spider-Man animated show stumbles out of the gate. It’s frustrating because the show has aspects of it that are ok but on the flip side the show wishes to dip its toes into the woke part of the pool. The animation is unique and is clearly inspired by Steve Ditko’s artwork from the 60s. Problem is it’s juxtaposed against a modern setting and the two clash horribly. Not to mention the show makes odd race and sex changes to well known characters and really takes you out of it. It’s as if the writer’s room had one side who respected the source material and the other side that wanted to make a show that focused more on Spider-Man’s Amazing Diverse Friends but not really focus on Spider-Man.
