In the early 1960s, a quintet of hopeful, young African-American men form an amateur vocal group called The Five Heartbeats. After an initially rocky start, the group improves, turns pro, and rises to become a top flight music sensation. Along the way, however, the guys learn many hard lessons about the reality of the music industry.

Another movie where the mainstream critics put down the movie and the local movie goers would love the movie. It's a story of a group based on the Dells and the Temptations. You get to see pieces of the story from both music groups in the film from how they pushed their way ahead in the music business in the middle of the 20th century.
