937 Duitse joden wordt een veilige reis naar Cuba beloofd in 1939. Ze vertrekken vol met vreugde vanuit Hamburg, op weg naar hun nieuwe leven. Maar dan blijkt dat dit alles georganiseerd was door een stel nazi's die op propaganda uit waren. Nu leven de passagiers in angst zonder te weten wat er met ze zal gebeuren.
