Quando o Vice Presidente do EUA morre, a Senadora Laine Hanson (Joan Allen) é escolhida pelo Presidente (Jeff Bridges) para ser a primeira mulher a ocupar o Gabinete.A escolha tem a oposição de menbros de ambos os partidos, em particular de um poderoso adversário político (Gary Oldman) que parece estar disposto a tudo para a lançar no descrédito.As suas audiências para a confimação do lugar desencadeiam uma tempestade de controvérsia quando chocantes segredos do passado de Hanson são revelados, ameaçando a sua vida pessoal e o seu futuro político. Laine parecia estar cada vez mais longe da presidência.Mas este desafio será um teste à sua coragem para desempenhar o cargo.

Joan Allen, Jeff Bridges, (a deliciously despicable) Gary Oldman, and, hell...even Christian Slater give great performances. I think this film has aged very well, and it's a shame (and perhaps embarrassment) that some of the issues addressed in this film are still relevant, if not worse, than in 2000. I guess politics never changes, it just keep getting worse until that society implodes and starts the cycle again from the ashes of revolution....but that was before TikTok 🤣😂 #boomer
