The mini-series vividly portrays the horrors of John W. Gacy, the notorious 1970s serial killer, by centering on the heartache of the victims' parents and the police's initial failure to investigate their disappearances. Although I personally would have preferred more focus on the crimes and Gacy's disturbing clown persona to avoid humanizing him, the show is ultimately elevated by the stellar cast. Michael Chernus, in particular, delivered a pitch-perfect performance as the killer.
