In hindsight this is a very basic buddy cop movie, but it established a lot of cherished action comedy tropes. Some things hold up, like convincing cops to break the rules for the greater good of catching the bad guys. Other things don’t hold up, like sticking bananas in a tail pipe. How much you like Eddie Murphy will decide whether you should watch or not.
