Working in the shadow of his father, an esteemed police veteran (Samuel L. Jackson), brash Detective Ezekiel "Zeke" Banks (Chris Rock) and his rookie partner (Max Minghella) take charge of a grisly investigation into murders that are eerily reminiscent of the city's gruesome past. I think the movie was alright, overall, with the caveat that they at least acknowledge where they came from and what inspired the movie. I think if they'd done it without a single nod to the original, this would have felt like a totally cheap, shameless rip-off. On it's own merits, not bad, had some really good moments and reveals.
